Trying to find info on a new "starter rig".

Don't know if one exists that matches all my requirements, so I thought I would take advantage of the collective consciousness of all you gear / tech heads out there, and ask. I'm only familiar w/ Toyotas (p/ups and 4Runners)...

Here's the requirements:
- Diesel engine (want to run bio-diesel)
- fully boxed frame (strength)
- leaf springs at all 4 corners (simplicity)
- 4 door (carry the fam easily & comfortably)
- average size wheel base (obviously flexible here - just trying to avoid super looooooong truck)
- daily driver / weekend warrior capable rig
- would prefer American but not opposed to Japanese, Euro mfrs (US cars have better selection, cheaper prices when it comes to aftermarket parts; tired of paying through the nose for Yota parts...)

Anybody have ideas that meet all the above reqs, or comes close?
If not, what would be a good starting platform - at least from the frame, suspension, 4 door ends of things?

Tx,
Mike

Either you get a diesel yota from AU or you go with the monsterous rigs w/ diesels in them if you want it from the factory. right now you are pretty much limited to 3/4 to 1 ton vehicles i.e. dodge club cab, excursion, f250 f350,

International Scout Traveler with Diesel.

If you can find a 1980 model the Diesel was turbo, all previous years were non-turbo.

Fairly anemic motor but a good DD

American made, only 2 door, but boxed frame, full frame, leafs at all corners and front/rear D44

And cheap.

Small enough to run trails with room for the kids. Good support network, check out www.binderbulletin.org for more info.

Get a CUCV truck or Blazer. They have the little smoker in them, plus they are 4x4 and 3/4 or 1 ton all ready..... CUCV will be the next thing I pick up..... Of course I would end up selling off all of the body parts and cut down the frame and ..........
