I accidentally stripped my rear diff drain plug on the Yamaha. Every change the fluid would come out a little milky, so I just gave it a little more to snug it down more and felt it go.

Now my threads are stripped, and I cannot source an oversized M10 drain plug for an easy repair.

Has anyone used a heli coil in aluminum with something like this with success? The diff gets submerged in water A LOT when riding, so I need something water tight.

Since doing this, I've purchased a small 3/8" torque wrench to keep from having this happen again.

Thanks!

I'll swing by NAPA and grab a heli-coil kit. I'm really hoping I can get this done with the diff in the machine. These damn things are so tight they're about impossible to work on unless you've got tiny hands and are a contortionist.

My parking brake needs adjusted and holy hell...I'm not sure Yamaha could have made it more difficult if they tried!
