I saw that thread were the 4 runner had the sheet metal insert where the rear seat would go thus making it a box. Has anyone done this to more recent Runners? I want to go down to just three seats. But it'd be nice to see some ideas of how to sheet it in. I would probably do the drivers side back seat so the one passenegr would have more room, thus I would require access to the fuel pump under that seat...

I think he means taking out one of the rear seats and using that indented area for storage but I like your idea better. That one of my next mods except my box will be a bit smaller. I only have enough room to barely squeeze a cooler between my seat and my tailgate.

i took my rear seats out and built a frame off of the lower hinges. it is made out of 1/2" square tubing and skinned with 16 ga sheet. it is two halves, with each side using two of the hinges. i don't have any pictures tho. i made it flush with the rest of the bed so i could sleep back there. there is not alot of room under it but it works great for things like tarps, tie down straps and other things used less often.

How about the recycling place at the dumps or some type of salvage yard. maybe a piece of a filing cabinet or something?
