Made the first one of these tonight, the angle is 1"x1"x1/8" and the sheetmetal is 16 guage, these came out a lot stronger and faster than any of my previous doors. The harbor freight air nibbler and punch/flange tool saved some time also.

night shift. Nobody around here to distract me at this hour. I can do 8 hours worth of "day" work in 5 hours at night.

I'll be camped in front of the swamp-cooler at home until at least mid-afternoon.

....back at the shop when darkeness falls...muhhuhuhaahhahah!

Beautiful work. Should have made the cup holders big enough for a cooler cup for those MGD's. Not that they'll set there longer enough to get warm. Just to minimize bottle abuse.

When I made mine, I cut off the window frame also. You'll like it better with it off of there. I also agree about the cup holder. Need to get some from a boat shop tha'll accommodate the beer and a coozie. They're like $4. I also reinforced mine right where you did. Made it a lot stiffer than just sheetmetal. Look good.

I am making mine with the window frame still also, I think the look better, they are stronger, and I plan on making some snap in windows. To each his own. Nice looking doors

I think the only real reason to keep the window frame would be for a snap on window, If your worried about looks and strength keep your full doors

That is why I said "To each his own" I think they look better with the frame and on my 90 I know the the frame makes them stronger. What in the hell is wrong with having a good looking rig???

flange tool was around $100,I think that one was made by Astro and can be had wherever they sell body tools.Harbor freight sells one too, allthough it's not a pistol grip and it punches a smaller hole (the one in the picture is 8mm, what you want)it works well and can be ordered on the website www.harborfreight.com

Hey Scottz I like the doors. I just got an 83 lwb 4wd and I think I might make some doors like that. could you post pics of your ext-cab. Is it a custom 83 or did you put an 84-newer cab on? I would love to see it.
