Greetings. I am a newbie, with limited car knowledge. I have a 91 Jeep Comanche, with a Dana 44. The bearing race seats are gouged, a leaf spring is broken, and the ring and pinion are trashed. As I currently have it with a shop, we are discussing replacing the whole rear. In searching, I found a dana 44, with correct gear ratio of 3.54. however, if I get that one its off an 80s Wagoneer. Which I am finding may be narrower and has a 6 bolt wheel pattern. My question is, for daily casual use, are the housing gouges that big a deal? If they are not, then I'll just get leaf springs and a ring and pinion set.
