Ryan, we are considering purchasing a Model 54 bender, but it looks a bit more unwieldy than the Model 3 we currently use. The model 3 is nice because we can get right on top of it to make sure that our bend start is lined up on the tube and the secondary action of releasing the toggle system on the 54 seems awkward. Do you have any customers in the off road industry running this machine currently?

The lining up the bend start point to the back of the die is just as easy as the Model 3 to use. The Model 54 has a lot more features than the model 3 has. The secondary action of hitting the latch on the back while pulling back the tubing is for an added safety lock. The toggle latch was made for getting the tubing out of the machine easier especially bending 2" OD .250 wall DOM and doing 3" OD tubing. The guys in the offroad industry use this and our older Model 50 benders.

Thanks for the reply. If you were bending 1.5-20" .120 wall DOM and 4130 would you recommend the 53 over the 54? I need the programmability and auto stop more than the ability to bend 3".

Your talking a $50 difference in price to get the better capabilities. Especially the toggle release system for ease of getting the tubing out.

I am not worried about the money. I am more concerned that what is currently a single-step process (removing the u-clamp) to move to the next bend is now a two or three-step process (removing the u-clamp, pushing the yellow safety, and then releasing the lever).

The model 53 was more on the level of 2 steps because you would have to hit / bump and remove the flipper. Whereas the Model 54 all you do is hit the safety button at the same time as pulling back the toggle switch. They both require unbolting the Ustrap.
