I have found some new builds out there. Always good to see the good and some others. Tube works new rear end is interesting ? It's doing great numbers on the dyno !!! Tube works just released this picture of their IFS 4x4 this week. Still don't know who put up to the $100,000 k for that ultra 4 front end???

Any other builds out there?

Some builds on p 4x4 and face book below.

One of the Casey Curries JK.
I know Casey has had the kit Brenthel made. First time I seen it in Casey hands. I talked to the guy that commission that IFS Jeep to be built . He took it to Sema and Casey got it from him. He told the first company that he had commissioned to build it to flaked. He had only good things to say about Brenthel, the sub contractor. Then he took it to a shop in Colorado to get it finished.
Thank you for posting it. With Casey driving one, sales will be good. This is my IFS Jeep in the picture below.

OCB. Isn't your LJ IFS front packaged closer to the motor to keep the CG lower? Always liked your build.

Many of the IFS KOH teams are gusseting the arm mounting tabs to the frame. The faster cars are almost ripping the stock simple tabs off. Many are opting for stronger arms and large upper heims also. The constant bumping up against rocks are taking their toll.

I am also looking at that serious upper J arm on the truck for a top arm in an IRS. We'll see. Always learning.....

I'll look for some others.

There's a team from Australia coming to KOH with a ifs/irs with portals all around. It would be nice to get them to chime in more about their car. There's some action shots of it in the competition and events forum but no real shots of the drivetrain.

Yes the COG was way the motor is mounted like that. Most of the desert designs IFS front end fall short when you factor in rock hits.

IMO if you can't take a big rock hit in the your IFS KOH rig, then your not going to be a winner . Light weight is great, but you have to no down time finish the race!

If you go J arm it's hard to keep the rear of the tub.

my new one..just have to make real lower arms..:D

well, and some other stuff

Very interesting designs you have there!! Looks like you can run 2 no plunging CV with that design. A lot of wheel travel to be had there.

VERY cool to see out side the box work like this.

A little birdie dropped into my mail box with the attached video. Interesting as it is not a recent thought.

What do people think about this system being strong enough with say two 934.5 CV's instead of a 30 series with a 35 spline shaft.....in a KOH Car. ???

I tried to get essentially that exact question answered in this thread:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/general-4x4-discussion/1919473-basic-ifs-irs-driveline-tech.html#post28992177

If a theoretical drive line was designed that limited the CVs to say 30 degrees total and yet still allowed 45 degree articulation of both control arm travel and steering angle, would the total CV failure rate drop dramatically, or are other failure modes (boot failures due to an intrusion lets say) so statistically significant that the total failure rate would still be high?

Didn't really get any good answers but would sure love to have them.

I know there has got to be pictures of it somewhere. A few years back, a guy showed up to a VORRA race with a IFS/IRS car that used the outer hub assemblies from a Hummer I believe. It had a mid mounted Ford BB with headers that looked like they came from a boat.

Word had it the guy was from Reno and had been building the thing for 10 years. He even built his own custom 4" shocks. It was nuts. The only thing I could compare it to is maybe some of the most cutting edge Ultra 4 cars or an 1/8th scale R/C car made in 1:1 scale.

I only ever remember seeing him run at Prairie City one time. It could probably work for KOH. I'd love to know what ever happened to the guy/car...

Shark

Nick Nelson's TT is coming along great. We are getting started on my 4wd truggy as soon as we get back from KOH. Pretty sure Paul Horchel is the one who had TW's design the new front kit.
Very cool to see a new 4x4 TT. It has been a long time since the Shark was built. I think all this new tech will trickle down slowly to refined IFS 4x4 race cars. Still looking for the right of it in picture of Herbst shark.
Thank you for posting
