Need a little help, we got a 1986 ford truck with a 302 EFI
We also have a 1979 351w out of a truck that were thinkin about puttin
in the 86 truck.
We want to keep the EFI so will the intakes inter change?
And what about the exhaust manifolds will they need to be switched
and or will they fit the heads?
Anything else we should know?
TIA

The 302 and 351 intakes are a different width I beleive. The best thing to do is hit up a pick and pull and try and find a newer truck and pull everything needed.

Or you could do one better and keep it all carbed. Nicely tuned it will run just as good as EFI. But hey, that's just my opinion and $0.02 :flipoff2:

intakes are different (351W is wider) and due to the 351W being wider than the 302, though the exuast manifolds will physically bolt on, they'll be both higher up and further out than on the 302 so the exuast will probably have to be redone. (if you don't buy new manifolds to correct for this)

the 351C(leveland) is nothing at all like the 302, and it's a similar size as the 351W, but with completely different port shapes and sizes..

A 79 351W out of a truck eh? I'm afraid no such animal exists.
If you had of said van, I might have believed you.
The 351W was not used in the truck line until 1982. If it is indeed a 1979 engine, it is a 351M.

No chit, it's a 351m?
And here I thought I knew a M from a W.
I had always thought that the M had larger heads like the 400?
I reckin when you havent jacked around with them in a while you get confused.
Wait up, could it be a 302? The heads dont seem as large as I rember them
on a M or a 400.
The truck 1979 it came with a 60 up front so it's a HD 250.
The man said it had a 351 and by me lookin at it I asumed it was a W ?
If any thing it'll make a nice power plant for my 53 Golden Jubilee :smokin:
