I am planning on buying the LC Engineering Header for my 22RE. It has the O2 sensor down by the catalytic converter, correct? My 85's O2 sensor is up on the manifold. Would I be able to extend the O2 sensor wires down to the mount without messing up anything (electrical resistance???) or will I have to mess up the ceramic coating to mount the 02 sensor fitting they provide if needed up by the engine.

This is a pic of a lc header I found at off-road.com about Chris Geiger's truck. Looks to me like his header has the fitting in about the stock spot. From what I understand the o2 sensor should be close to the exhaust ports because it doesn't work until it heats to a certain point. I am assuming this is a 22re? My 22re has a one wire o2 sensor, non heated. I think some sensors on different cars that have multiple wires are heated and can be positioned differently.

i mnow its new/

but i don't think you can put the o2 sesor in the cat.

maybe you will need to cut a hole and cut out the old mounting style. and weld it into the hole on you new header. the hole i was telling you to cut.

atleast that's probably do if i was getting a header like that. i think they usually come with the o2 already to bolt up thou

I was looking at my neighbors LC engineering header last night. The O2 sensor was down next to the Catalytic converter. Not exactly in it maybe 6" forward. The picture of Geiger's LC Engineering header has the O2 sensor port where I need it. I will be calling LC on monday to order the header hopefully.

The O2 sensor about 12" in front of the cat is where the O2 sensor is on my 89 22RE on the factory exhaust pipe.

Check out this page on Doug Thorley's site... might clear things up a bit. They list all of their different header applications and have pictures of each... It looks like something was labeled wrong on the page, so this is what I have gathered is really the case. The 84.5-87 22RE had the O2 where it is on this header, and the 88-91 had it here, where it is on my 89 4Runner.</font>

Thanks for the info Masteryota. Unfortunately things have changed in the past couple of hours and it looks like I will have to wait a little bit to get the header.
