Looking to install a Flowmaster on my '99 TJ 4.0. Trying to decide between the 40 series and the 50 series and considering the dynaflow technology on each. Its a daily driver, so I don't want to drone myself to death. Question, please, for those in the know:

Which model will likely produce the best increase in HP. (I know it will be minimal, at best).

Which model will produce the best tone without overly obnoxious cab noise?

Thanks in advance......

I use a magnaflow flow through muffler. it has a nice soft deep sound. My muffler guy told me that flowmaster is mostly for sound and that magnaflow is best for performance

As of last weekend, I don't run a muffler at all on my 91 4.0 Liter (long story with dynomax exhaust). I was supprised at how mellow the sound really is without a muffler running only the stock cat. Most of the time, I can't even hear it around town...on the highway at 70mph (it's an auto so almost 3k) it's noticable but not annoying. I know I loose a little torque with the lack of backpressure, but the horsepower gain is quite noticable. Also, this is my daily driver as well.

JU alert!

Mufflers are made for raking off with rocks. When yours goes, stick something cheap on there or nothing at all. Horsepower is for race cars. Mufflers don't help with torque down low, which is what Jeeps need.
