Alright this is the problem. When I go to start my truck after it is warmed up it it makes a firey commotion thru the carb. It is not so much a backfire as it is a firey commotion. Ive heard flat cam or valve problem but all cylinders have the same exact compression and the timing is right on. It runs like a champ you just have to give it WOT to start it when its warm. Please give me your ideas I am tired of putting out airfilter fires! Kris

If you have a worn exhaust lobe on the cam it wouldnt effect the compression on a test. Also if the intake lobes are worn a little or even a fair amount its probably not enough to throw off compression at the 150rpm or so the starter gives you. It is easy enough to check, all you gotta do is pull the valve covers. I dont know what else it could be unless your checking the timing wrong.

could a faulty egr cause something like that?
