So whats your plans?

Why did you chose the 425 over one of the other BBC's (Big Bad Caddys)

1st it was free
2nd they still got good power with good milage

plans.. the botmem end was like new

new comp cam/ lifters and rings and propane

I probibly still will go with a 472 or 500 later but when I do it will be a ground up build up.

all I want out of this 425 is about 5 to 7 years of ocasional use

hows the aftermarket following for the 425? Can you get a different cams for it?

What transmission do you plan on using?

for aftermarket ther just as good as the 472/500 for the most part the 425 is the same as the 472 but with a diffrent water jacket and smaller bore, intaks, cams exhaust, pumps heads, cams, rockers, push rods (with little modifycation) are all the same. I beleve they also share the same valves

for the transmission i'm using the TH 400 (came with the motor) with a 203 (for future dubler kit) I already have a TH 400 with the 203 but is the GMC belhousing boltpattern so I just swap in the output shaft into the Caddy 400.

the easyist way to tell a 425 from the others is the color of the engine, the 425 is a light blue, also the 425 intake is a single plane unet

The 472/500 is 40lbs heavier than a SBC? How does the 425 stack up?
it eaven lighter then the 472

on the 425 they left out alot of un nessary casing that the 472 has so i'll bet its really close to a SBC or the same weight

That would be impressive by all standards. I was lucky to get 12MPG out of a fresh bone stock 350 with a quad and HEI.:skull:
