2001 Montero Sport ES 3.0L

I bought it new, and it did daily driver duty till 2006, at which point it got 4.90 gears, a rear ARB locker, 2"rear coils/2" body lift, and 33's.

I wheeled it for a year like that, then the SAS started.

Got my Dana44 from a 79 F150 and installed 4.88 gears and another ARB.

Used the wedge parts of the Ford radius arms, and spliced them to 2"x.250"DOM with some .250 gussets and 1" heims on the end. These arms ended up being 6" longer than stock. I located the axle an inch forward from the IFS centerline.

Had to modify the trans xmember to clear the arms. Now it bolts to the inside of the framerail instead of under it.

Dang Danny boy!

Good to see the truck still in service. Your old michigan pen pal checking in (dont have the log in info to the old name above) and now im in arizona. You wheel like the dudes down here! Two-scoops! Love to see that thing out on some of the southwest trails, it would be right at home.
Thanks!

Trying to get out more this year. Crossed Harlan off my list last year, trying for Moab to be my next big trip. I'd love to get out to KOH too.

She's a trailer queen now. Getting 12-14mpg towing, that's better mileage than driving the Sport. :D

Let me know if you're coming down to the southwest, love to meet up and do some wheeling.
Thanks!

Let me know when you're heading out to Moab, if you wouldn't mind the company. :)

Every time I re-read your stuff I start drooling. :D :D The '99 to go under the knife the end of the month. Can't wait! I'm hoping to have it done and tuned by Sept.

Lil flop. Was able to get pulled forward, might have been able to drive out of it, but didn't have the front locker ready. The air tank was empty, compressor was turned off and i would have had to idle in that position for 5 minutes to let the system get up to ARB pressure.

Ooops! Should've taken the line on the right I guess :flipoff2:

Glad it wasn't too serious.
Back in the dunes after 10 years. The H1'[email protected] made somewhat easy work of it, coulda used more power out there. Silver Lake, MI

How are the dunes in a low-power rig anyway? Worth a 5 hour drive?
Yes, worth it for sure, especially if you've never been there yet. I've been up "Test Hill" many times in my rig, this most recent time I couldn't get up the steepest part. The park is 900ish acres with few trees, lots of places to play, not just steep dunes. Some DEEP puddles too.

The drive is beautiful in the fall. Used to go every year(2002-2008) when I lived in Homer Glen, about 4.5hrs. Now for me(in NWI) it's only 3.5

Another bonus is the beach, stop and jump in Lake Michigan when you and the car get warm. Silver lake gets busy though, call ahead to book camping.
Good to know! Thanks!

Sounds like a blast.
What PSC pump did you end up using?
That nearly or totally worked on the stock bracket?
I think I just had to cut some spacers out of some aluminum sleeve. Then maybe some longer bolts, and maybe drill a new hole.

It was not too bad, i do remember that.
