I just bought this yesterday, haven't picked it up yet, but hopefully I can this weekend sometime.

It's a 76 "Levi" CJ5, 304, Amc20 (yuck), Dana 20 t-case and a T-176 Tranny? (I didn't think they came with that)

Utah, what are your plans for it? Another wheeler? Or a frame up resto/DD?

Dude,

Total wheeler. It's almost "unfortunate" that it's a "Levi" edition, but that's not going to stop me.

Let the cutting commence!

Actually,

I think that it has a T18 in it. 76 CJ's, from what I can determine, if it has a 4 speed, is a T18. I could be wrong, and it could have been swapped in.

But, at this moment, I think that the guy I'm buying it off of is incorrect in thinking that it's a T176.

is the shifter bent or straight? T-176 have straight shifter that will put your hand into the dash when you drive

Looks good to me - of course I have a 78CJ7 Levi. That may prejudice me....

Hey Scott.

The YJ is for sale. Since I'm going to be a Dad in 6 months, it was time to get rid of the "expensive" Jeep and go cheap.

BLK88 - If you are going to do the offroad thing - think about doing a lot of changing - if - it has the Qtrac T/C. When you go to about any other T/Case for strenth you will end up with a tranny adapter for the t400 to anything. Lots of shifter and shift handle bending & a differant rear. Lots of $$$.

COOL! Glad to hear your gonna have a mini jeeper on your hands! Sorry to hear you have to get rid of the YJ.. Id buy it if I didnt already have one. That is one sweet rig you've got, and it will be a shame to sell it, but its cool.. cuz you got another jeep.. I always wondered, is the YJ a daily driver? and will the CJ become the daily driver?

well i was thinking about trying to keep it pretty much stock...it is too straight, rust free, and classic to beat up. thats what YJ's are for.
anyways, it has the 3speed (T18?) and i thought the quad only came behind auto's....still interested in how much you paid for the 76 though!

I paid $1200 for mine - no engine or lots of other parts. Right you are - Q/Tracs had T400s so all my changes are based on auto only

Well, I spent 1000 for that one. THe motor runs fairly well, although I need to get a new carb, fix the leaks and give her a good tuneup.

So far, I'm thinking about getting a couple of 44's and put 35" tires on it. But, I'm trying to do this on a "relative" budget, so I need to watch my costs.
35's just might not be in the plan, and I'll have to do 33's. But I'm looking at "Bang for the buck", 35's would be nice, but is the extra cost worth spending serious bucks for 2" more tire? I don't know
