Well, time to start. I am a newbie but am being tutored by some of the greats, God I love being in Toys on the Rocks, great group of people with tons of experience. Scott, aka Cruzila, has been a life saver, not to mention I think I have caused a great number of his grey hairs. He has lead by down the road to bankruptcy, jk that would be my fault, and helped keep me on track when I'm ready to start taking short cuts. His years of experience, aka trial and error, has helped me plan my rig out. I realize this is not going to be the most hardcore rig, but it will be much more capable than my driving ability for sure. Here is a not-so-quick run down...

Got a 71 FJ 40 that turned out need a ton of work, all good as I see it. I can honestly say I have or will have touched and turned every frickin bolt on it. I figure better to learn how all this stuff works and connects at home than haveing to learn or worse yet, ask someone to do it for me on the trail:mad3: . It came with a 1 F, that I cleaned up. Of course, now I have decided to go with a 2F, and I get to do it all over again, but this time I can do it without buggin Scott every 2 seconds.

I got a freebie 4 sp tranny from Mr_Manny, thanks again, and had it gone through by Marlin.

I have 4.7 Toybox married to a pimped out transfer case made by Scott. It's a billet case that rocks, hopefully it will perform as well as it looks, with Scott, building it, not too worried about that. Just finished up with the skid plate/transfer case mount, pics to follow. And the disc emergeny brake.

I have removed the old body as it was too tweaked to even F... with, I had already got the replacement body panels, so the new body I have, thanks Bob, will be a much easier job. At least I'm starting with something straight, and will sell off the panels I don't end up needing with the new body.

I have a new Centech wireing set up, with all the custom plugs to use with my new tilt camero steering column. I have all new LED lights for the back up and S/T/T lights made by trucklight. These things look great. And plan to use the 71 front blinkers with LED's in them. I also intend to use the new Roundeye's headlights.

I have the Metal tech full roll cage that will be tied into the frame... I have to get the new body on first as the PO did some booty fab of the rear sill and want to have the body installed correctly before mocking up the cage. Also I have the tube fender kit, bull bar and stinger kit.

The shackle reversal and SOA mod have been done, just have to finish up the shackle mount after I see how it stands after all the weight is on it. The pics will show how off the pinion angle of the rear diff is, but the spring pearches are not welded yet, we are waiting to see where everything ends up, then we'll get the angle right and weld em' up.

We have put the frame plates and mounted the saginaw power steering plates on and have the 4x4 labs hi steer kit with 1 ton TRE's. And I personally think the flames will make it go faster:smokin:

We have done the mini knuckles with disc brake conversion. The knuckle studs have been upgraded to the 9/16" Dana 44 knuckle studs. The locking hubs have been upgrade to accept Grade 8 3/8" bolts instead of the studs. Have I said enough, Scott rocks...

The front axles are 30 spline 4340 longfields with ARB diffs running 4:11's and the front diff protection is a modified Marlin plate.

The rear is now a full floater with disc brakes.
The rear axles are custom dutchmans and use the FJ80 drive flanges with grade 8 3/8" bolts. The diff cover is the BTF Kryptonite one (BEEFY.) The rear also has a ARB locker.

I will be installing the York compressor to supply my air and have not decided on the air tank yet. I'm thinking of making a box tube slider to double as the air tank on both sides, but need to research it more first.

I am installing a Tuffy console and PRP seats in it.

I just finished cleaning the frame rails, what a PITA!! and decided to just rattle can them with Rustoleum. I figure, I'm going to have keep touching these up from the Rubicon any way.

I have the MAF long range tank that mounts under the seats on the way. I plan on tying the seat mounts and the console into my roll cage so unfortunately, the underseat tool box has to go away. Well, thats about it for now. I'll post up some pics and I know ahead of time will hear crap for my welding. I'm getting much better, penetration isn't a problem, but apperance, can you say booger welds if welding overhead...:flipoff2:

you prolly won't even ever need that spare 3rd you bought from me.....i guess that's the whole idea though.

some spring pics. Since these, I took the packs apart, wire brushed, primed and painted all the packs and put new spring pins in. This took for frigin ever, great idea Scott:flipoff2: In all honesty, I guess it will be worth it, after all it was a weekend at the firehouse, what else was I going to do?

some axle pics, we welded the inside of the diff, where we put the tubing though. This was done so I didn't have to tweak the U bolts. We will see if it works like the plan?

Nice work! But the sweetest thing about that rig has got to be them Kelly Safari tires! Oh it's true, I used to sport those back in the day! When I was on the road, everybody got the hell out of the way, cause those tires where using both lanes and then some!

Even if it takes a club intervention you will get this rig driveable this year we are behind you.

Well right now we have 3 boxers and 1 fox terrier. If you want, I'm going to be working on the new body from Bob tommorrow (Sunday) I should be at it pretty early and plan on working till dark. Stop by if you can, even if just to laugh:D
