I recently swapped over my cab on my 84 due to a roll over. I swapped an 87 V6 cab over to my 84 frame. I am having a hard time hooking up the alternator. The three wires on the 84 alternator don't match up to any wires from the 87 harness. Is there a way to hard wire the alternator?

I'm guessing you had the earlier '84 engine setup with the non internally regulated alternator. Look on your old cab, you should see the regulator mounted on the inner fender, near the coil.

The better solution is to upgrade to the internally regulated alternator, from the '85+ trucks. You will need a new alternator, and the bottom bracket that mounts under the motor mount. This is a higher output alternator, worth the swap.
