HAVE 86 2.4 LITRE TURBO-DIESEL
MOTOR HAS 166,00 KMS ,WAS REBUILT AT 108,000 .WITH NEW CYLINDER HEAD.
NOW THE ENGINE HAS A SLIGHT STUMBLE,AND THE MOTOR SMOKES LIKE A S.O.B.
I NOTICE OIL LEAKING OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE EXHAUST PIPES
IS THAT A SIGN THAT THE TURBO IS FAILING AND STARTING TO SUCK OIL IN?OR IS THE ENGINE ON ITS WAY OUT?
SEEMS TO HAVE LOTS OF POWER AND THE TURBO FUNCTIONS A OKAY
DOES NOT OVER HEAT AND HAS LOTS OF OIL PRESSURE
NEED SOME INSIGHT BEFORE I TEAR DOWN(LAST RESORT)
DID HEAR A RATTLING SOUND BEFORE IT STARTED SMOKING
SMOKE STARTED BLACK THEN BLUE THAN WHITE
THE RATTLING SOUND COULD IT BE A BAD INJECTOR OR THE INJECTION PUMP STARTING TO FAIL?
NEED HELP,NEED ANSWERS THANKS ROCKET

I would suspect the turbo first since you are getting partaily unburned oil smoke. take the Turbo off and take a look to see if it is the turbo or not.

You'll know the engine is burning alot oil when it doesn't shut off when you turn the key...haha...

Dude, turn the caps key off, all caps is considered yelling, we can all hear ya just fine with lower case.

Hi All

You say this diesel was rebuilt after only 108,000 this is odd these motors are often good for 300,000 or better. I would suspect the turbo is your trouble when they ware out the first signs are the big billows of black smoke and passing oil. With this motor only having 166,000k on it should be like new. We bought one recently, to add to our collection, with over 300000 on it and it still runs strong.

White smoke means that the mixture is haywire and that you are getting too much air sent through the system-check the turbo then bearings/(injector pump-$1000 to rebuild )
