I just installed 63" chevys, ( yes, I'm sick of reading about frikin 63" chevys too).
They flex great, but I need more.

Whats happening is the front spring eye is binding in the hanger when it is twisted. I used 3.5"X3/16 square tube. And I used a double shackle in the back. The rear has plenty of twist left in it. When its not twisted I have 1/8 clearence on each side.

What I want to do is make a front perch that will twist with the spring. Something with a hinge. I also want to recess it into the frame, so I don't have a huge anchor in the front of the spring. I can build the hinge mount.

Do you think it's worth the trouble?

And no I don't want to go to orbit

the guy that invented the revolver shackles has a spring perch for cj's and yj's that does just what you are talking about. I seen some protos. in action about two years ago in Moab. they worked like a dream. so yea I think its a good idea.
