What is the cheapest way to convert my D44 from its present 5 on 5 1/2 to 8 lug.
I am getting ready to swap in the 14 bolt in the rear, and would like to match up the front so that I can get new beadlocks and sell my 5 lug MRT's all at once.
I will be swapping a D60 this winter so I dont want to spend a fortune on it.
I currently run the flat top knuckles and high steering, and it works very good so I dont want to have to redo all of the steering at this point if I dont have to.
What are my options?
Thanks

You need to gather up spindles out on a ealry chevy 44 or a 10 bolt. Im assuming you have a 6 bolt pattern on your knuckle. I have a mathcing set 14 bolt 8 lug 44 if your interested in a bunch of spare stuff..

8 lug hub, caliper, bracket and rotor should work from the junkyard from a chevy (if your 44 was from a chevy) <IMG SRC="smilies/fj.gif" border="0">
edit: I have 8lug rotors you can have, but they need to be turned

hey jeff.. you need to find an 8 lug for chevy.. and get the spindles out from it.. would be the cheapest.. since you could get most of it from a yard.. and just buy some new rotors/pads..
i am not sure on the bearings used in those hubs.. but find a auto parts joint with a book.. and try to match up the bearings, between the 1/2 and 3/4 ton fronts...
i have some 10 bolt spindles... but they are from a 1/2 ton.. i dont see them being different.. but who knows..
like said above.. get spindles.. caliper brackets.. everything...

on the chevys 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton spindles were different until mid year '76 after that they were all the 3/4 ton style. Since it sounds like H8 has ford hubs he has the early half ton spindles since they use the same inner wheel bearing as the ford hubs. Your 10 bolt half ton spindles will work for him if they are from 76 on up. Wagoneer changed to the larger inner wheel bearing at the same time as Chevy.
