Hi guys,

my names Mike this is my samurai, been building it and using it since 2015 ish, been into Suzuki’s for about 15 years now !

here is mine it’s a Kja long wheel base, 38.5 maxis mud trepadors, still on samurai axles, rear axle I’ve recently increased the shaft size to 29.5mm shafts as was breaking the fully float ones all the time.

so I’d like some more experience on big tyres from anyone who’s ran a 6.5 transfer box with a 3.9 axle ratio, the truck is only used in competitions and I only use low range. So it’s doesn’t matter if high range the gearing is too tall.
Currently on 5.38 axle ratio, and I think the gearing is far to low for winch challenge events we do in it.

Hope everyone’s keeping well,

best regards

Mike harris

38s on Sammy axles? That's bold. 😅

If you're still running the 1.3L, I don't think you're going to want to make that big of a jump in gearing...while you may, in theory, gain wheelspeed doing that...I think you'll find the motor doesn't have the grunt to pull that big of a tire with the higher gearing anymore.

Back when I was still running a 1.3, with the same 6.5 t-case gearset, stock 3.73 axle gearing, and 31s..I often wished I had some lower gearing still, and I was never much in deep mud or sand. My solution was just to double the motor HP, lol.

Hello there

it’s a 1.6 16v engine, the axles are far from stock to be fair, Rcv Ultimate front shafts and cvs
Fully float rear axle with shafts increased to 29.5 mm using a Dana pattern spline.
Solid crush collars, hard ended centres ect
