i DONT THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM JUST CURIOUS ABOUT IT............. MY CLUTCH SEEMS TO BE WORKING EXCELLENT, HOWEVER WHEN MY RIG IS NOT IN GEAR AND I LET OUT THE CLUTCH A SLIGHT GRINGING OR GROWLING NOISE SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM UNDER THE JEEP...... IT IS NOT LOUD, HOWEVER IM JUST CURIOUS. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE A NEW GUY!

Do you have a NV3550 tranny? 2000 or newer with a 4.0 liter? If so, it just sounds like your shycros, they are noisy in that tranny when you have it in N. And thats normal if thats the case, mine does it, has to do with I think the reverse shycros.....not 100% sure, but thats what I recall.

it is an 01.... with 4.0 so hopefully it is just noisy synchros...... its more of a random quiet tapping..... and when you turn the vehicle off in Neutral it kinda makes a tappinng noise wich slows down with the engine rpm's

if it squeels really loudly your throw out bearing is toast......... you will know when you hear it lol.......

more of a ticking... as stated before prob. exaust leak
