My new nissan 87 truck is a v-6 and it runs fine for awhile, I assume until the choke shuts off. Then I have a flat spot from between 1500 RPM and 1900 to 2000 RPM where the truck dies then runs fine above that. It seems to only really affect the truck in 1st and 2nd gear. If I am in 3rd or higher gear the truck has no flat spots.

What causes this?

I know the truck has a healthy leak in the seam of the gas tank that I will be repairing this week.

I found one vaccum line broke fixed it, not change in the way the truck ran.

I have no service lights on, the truck has just over 100,000 miles and has a new fuel pump and fuel filter. I also checked the air cleaner it is clean so the engine is getting air.

I am going to fix the tank, where do I start after that?

I did wires and plugs as well as fixing some hoses around the air cleaner that had cracks , still not fixed. I think it is something in the fuel pump unit.
