I had to tow my daughter's Toyota Paseo home today, and although I haven't really had time to look at it, I'm beginning to think it's gonna be one of those "pain in the a$$ fixes".
Here's what happened.....
My daughter calls me and says she's got a dead battery, OK so I go and test the battery and it's good. I turn the key and nothing, no starter. So we bump start the car. It starts and seems to run just fine.
I follow her for the 24 miles it takes to get to my house but just before we get there the engine dies. She tells me it started to rattle and then it died.
At this point I don't want to deal with it anymore so I go home and get my Cruiser and come back with a tow strap, tow it home and there it sits.
I won't be able to get a shop manual till monday, so I'm asking if anyone has any suggestions.
It's a 1994 Toyota Paseo, manual transmission, engine size, little. It's got just over a houndred thousand miles on it.

Actually I sould repost this as LC saves the day, tows home the little baby toy.....

Don: That sounds like a bad connection in the elec system. Check the grounding strap for continuity, etc. Andy

If it's not a bad connection at the battery or ground, it sounds like a dead or weak battery. What makes you think that the battery is good? It is hard to know without putting a load on it.

Yes it's got plenty of fuel...

And I had the Kragen's Auto guy check the battery with one of those load testing devices. Plus all the lights and horn etc works well.

I thinking the starter went to ground, but I'm concerned that it may have effected somthing else in the electrical circuit. Like maybe some kind of relay or breaker or some other weird gizmo...

i hate to repetative like this but to me it sounds like a fuel problem and an electrical problem. have you tried using a remote starter (to tell if it is electrical)?

I'm going to get into it first thing tomarrow morning. I'll try the remote starter switch, thats a good idea. It should eliminate some possibilities.

There's definitely somthing really weird going on around here.......maybe like someones been testing nuclear warheads or somthing, electro magnetic pulse or whatever!

Today my wife's Ford Explorer wouldn't start, dead battery, corroded terminals. I went to start my Toy truck and it's battery was also dead, bad alternator .....That's three cars down in like two days!

The only thing running around here is my Cruiser !
