I have a buddy with an 86 LWB toy, 22R, and a 3" body lift with 33" tires (hey- I told him to do the SAS swap- don't blame me. He doesn't wheel it, just street.) The thing is UNGODLY slow.
Anyways, I was just given a 90 Extra cab V6 with a bad motor. Yup- given.

Here is the question:
The V6 should have 4:56's, right?
He needs gearing badly. Can I just chuck in the diffs? Are the axles interchangeable?

Is this an option to an expensive gear swap. (and not an expensive motor swap, or dropping the tire size.)

Is the 90 an SR5 with Allows? It is my understanding that they only put the 4.56's in the trucks that had the upgraded Allows / Tires (31's).

Not necessarily! All V6's with 31" tires and 4-cylinder manuals with 31" tires usually had 4.56 gears. Otherwise, they came with 4.10 gears.
