friggin hell!
anyone know how to set it up properly?
i have everything but 4lo (the most importatnt) and i don't wanna put the pain in the ass shift boot back on and have to pull it off again before i go wheeling.

shifting is really sloppy but everything looks nice and tight
it goes:
2 hi ^
Neutral - staright back (i have no idea why)
4 high >
and neutral again back where 4 lo should be

friggin hell
this sucks
i've been screwing with it for 3 hours and whenever i start the jeep up to test it out and see if it works i have to wait for the exhaust pipe to cool or i burn myself

fixed!
<IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">
the pivot nut on the backside (hidden side) of the linkage had backed off
musta got loosened in the swap and i missed it.
it was rough to tell cuz i don't have anyone helping me so i had to use bungee cords attached to my seat mounts to hold the shifter inbetween gears so could crawl unde the jeep to see the bit of play it had.

isn't that a lame set-up? Mine got goofed up and I just had 2-lo <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0"> didn't even know it was capable of just 2-lo...I think the linkage is reason enough to get me an Atlas II <IMG SRC="smilies/csmile.gif" border="0">

I have been having the same problem ever since I put on my 1" body lift. When I go wheelin it goes into 4Lo fine but after some bumps or a little wheelin no more shifting im stuck in neutral or 4Lo. Have to get out reattach the linkage and then shift back to 2Hi.Anyway it's a PITA, so get used to it.HTH Trey <IMG SRC="smilies/skull.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/skull.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/skull.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/skull.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

not only lame but tough to comprehend how it really works....
for something so relatively simple
breaking things down in my head usually isn't that big of a deal
the other pain in the ass is the stupid shift boot
they just bolt into the floor
it's a bitch to get it all lined up
i didn't even try to get it sealed!

glad to see i'm not the only one

Gutter - I like that thinkin!

Wild Blue Jeep - I strongly suggest pulling the whole linkage
it's pretty simple and it makes it a lot easier to work on it rather than wrapping your arms up around the t-case

thanks guys
and good luck

Man...today i went offroading with my jeep that i just got like a week ago. Was going good, until i was leaving the trails, and i got stuck...Decided i better put it into 4 wheel drive. Stupid linkage must be jacked or something, because when i went to shift it, the shifter was hesitant and i could feel it bending. never did get it into 4 wheel at all....it would only go into 2 low or neutral. Think that i just need to play with the linkage?

Before I rebuilt my auto trans, I would have to shut off the engine to get it in and out of 4 low. Even in neutral, it must have been putting enough torque on the t-case so I couldn't shift. I even pulled the t-case out to work on it and soon as I got it out it shifted fine.

withamc,

That might be my problem...cause i too have an auto tranny. I will try that later today. When i tried to shift it while it was running, it wouldn't move very easily...i got it to shift a couple of times into 2 lo, but it was grinding a lot...so maybe the tourqe thing is the problem.

HEY WHATS UP FELLAS YA I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A 1" BODY LIFT IT JUST KEEP POPPING OUT WHEN I SHIFT IT BACK AND FORTH BUT I FOUNF THE REASON TO FIX IT ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS REPLACE THE SCREW AND BOLT YOU USE TO LOWER THE BRACKET WITH A ALLEN HEAD BOLT OR A REAL LOW PROFILE HEAD SO IT DOESNT RUB ON IT (THE LINKAGAE)
