I just put a GM NV4500 with the external slave into a YJ. When I called AA, they literally told me "good luck". They wouldn't help me work with the stock equipment (and I'd just spent about a grand there). They only wanted to sell me a new conversion bellhousing, arm and slave. I ended up using all the stock OEM GM clutch parts that came with the transmission and the stock '88 Wrangler hydraulic master cylinder. Parts Mike supplied all the lines to adapt it and was very helpful. It shifts OK (a little harder to press the pedal). I think the newer YJ/TJ master cylinders are a little different, but I'd go ahead and try it.
