I am looking to get the FJ55 ready for Moab roundup, and was wondering if there is a way to adapt the NV4500 to a NP203 reduction box? I want to pirate the drivetrain from my FJ40(6.34:1 NV4500 and split case) to build the FJ55 for the trip but want a bit more reduction, without having to buy new tranny t-case. The 203-split case is easy, but I have not found anything to adapt the NV4500 to 203 box...Thanks

The overdrive gear on the NV4500 resides outside the main gear box in the adapter housing. Consequently, a long adapter housing is required for any NV4500. The adapter housings are cast and then machined. Given the costs involved, I would be surprised if AA or anyone else would make an adapter housing that would mate the NV to the NP203. The potential customers are likely to be too few in number to warrant such a product. It would make a <IMG SRC="smilies/smokin.gif" border="0"> combination though.

One product not mentioned much here is the Klune-V unit (www.klunev.com). It is installed between the tranny and T-case. Costs about $1200 (?). If I recall correctly, (in other words, this needs to be verified) a Dana 300/Atlas II and Klune-V all bolt directly to the back of a NV4500; the Klune-V bolts directly to a Dana 300, and adapter plates are available for a variety of other t-cases. Given the length of the FJ55 drive shaft, an angled shaft from a centered output t case, such as a 205, would not be unrealistic, even on a lifted rig. Just some thoughts. Andy

Actually,
I have a NV4500 that has 32 spline output with a GM 4x4 rear housing. I found that the bolt pattern and the spline count are exactly the same as the TH400. I put a 205 from a TH400 on my NV4500.
I am finding out that GM put 203's behind TH400's and that the TH400 always had a 32 spline output, which means that the 203 must have had a 32 spline input, which should work with my NV4500.

Just My $.02
