I found a local 1973 Fj40

Bone stock except for a rochester 2bbl carb and a crappy aftermarket wiring harness. Black Rustoleum paint job(even underneath) some rust around the windows and seams, not too horrible. It runs and drives and the 4wd works. The guy is asking $2500.

OPINIONS PLEASE!

If the body is straight - and there is no major rust in the rear corners, I'd buy it.

This can be a great starting platform, as it already has the lower range t-case. Upgrades/mods are up to you from there - just depends on intended use.

Just my $0.02
I just wanna know what part of "The Deep South" you found it in
if it's not rusty and has a clean title it's probably worth the money; i'd still try to jip him down a little.
shop around, you'll find more. how long has it been for sale and is there anybody else interested?! let the guy stew a little.

Orange 45, its been there for 2 years, I think the last time I checked he wanted $3500. I planned to offer $2000 if I can figure out how to hide it from the wifey

Giddy up! My buddy Rusty from Baton Rouge bought his for $2500, slapped some 4" springs on it, locked the rear and put in an SM420 and he has a mighty fine trail rig for under 5K.

You in Meridian, MS?
I don't have the $$$ for it anyways. I wouldn't snake a fellow pirate member either.

Hell I paid 3000.00 for mine and its not driveable yet.

Have you been to the LA4x4 meetings yet? Most of the guys are , but there are some super cool guys too.

Look up Mike Ming and Rusty Biggs. I used to be in Mandeville and I ran with them for 2 years.

Rusty is a cruiser nut and lives in Central. He is a master welder and just got a tube bender, you should hook up with him.

There is another guy named Scott Hilbun who has an awesome FJ-40 and a tom of spare parts.

Email Rusty at [email protected]

You and 60 Driver should come to Gilmer in October for the Cruiser/Mini only ride.
I'm near Birmingham, Alabama

wngrog thats what I was thinking (locked & lifted) except I hoped to keep the rest stock (till I start breaking stuff).
I've talked to Rusty a couple of times. I'm gonna get him to make a cage for me sooner or later. First I have to get a title and get it driveable.
