I am trying to get a little bit longer wheelbase on my shorty cj-5 it is a 1955 with the factory shackle reversal. I run a custom alcan spring over spring. narrow ones. Even though I have had them re-arched and added arch. they sags everytime I run them hard.
I dont have the $$$ to go to a 4-link or 3-link (quarter elliptic or coils). I was thinking of going with a custom spring that is longer and wider (2.5 form 1.75) and has an offset pin. The questions I have:
1) Is anyone running these type of leaves?
2) What is the recommeded offset?
3) Generel Pros/Cons.
4) What length should I consider to be optimum?
I talked to a guy at Alcan and usually they are extremely helpful but his standard answer was "well tell me how long you want them and I will make them." Tell me how much offset you want and I will make them."
I did not know.
TIA
