Anyone got any Idea what the ohms for a 87 wrangler fuel level sender is, I am trying to get some gauges and i need a fuel gauge but i need to know the resistance of the old gauge and i haven't got any 12 volt power to figure it out.

Sorry about the hijack, but anyone know what the ohms reading is for an 86 CJ?
CJ Fuel Sender Resistance Tests

With an ohmmeter check the resistance between the round sender post (pink wire) and ground.
It should be:
* 73 ohms Empty
* 23 ohms at 1/2 tank
* 10 ohms Full

If the resistance falls in this ballpark (depending on how much gas you have in the tank), then the sending unit is fine.
If it shows infinitely HIGH resistance, then the sending unit could be bad OR the wire from the tank to the gauge could be open.

YJ readings are backwards, ending near 90 ohms at full.

Since mine is currently laying on the hood of the Jeep....

87 4.2 Carb'd with 20 gal poly tank.

At bottom stop, 10 Ohms
At top Stop, approx 124 Ohms.
As measured with the DMM.

For Trivia, 98 Ford Explorer 5.0 sending unit measures out 60 - 180 ohms???
