Ok now that i KNOW my tranny mount is toast.i can lay under the jeep and push on the rear driveshaft with my foot and move everything around.

Ok so the tranny mount is fubar.... waht do i do. dealer, auto zone? what? ive heard so much stuff about other mounts just never tranny mounts.

thyanks

the fastest fix might be the best because the jeep is almost undriveable the sob shakes like hell anywhere over 35 and the rear main seal is gettin tweaked cause its leakin alot worse.

stay away from the poly mounts for a daily driver. They allow way to much vib.s to be transfered to the tub. The cheapy rubber ones are just fine. Get on the phone and shop around, just get the cheapest. I've used both and now I stay with the rubber.

I think my stock one is toast too, and its nearly new. (only 1400 miles) with a few tough trips, but still...

Does the flat skid pushing up the T-case add to messing this up?

Is there a stronger mount than stock other than Poly?

I have a poly mount from Prothane. Works great. Yes it does have a few vibes but it isn't as exaggerated as you say. Between swampers, tranny mount, motor mounts, etc. I can't really tell where all the vibes are coming from. hahaha

Poly is great! Stronger then rubber and transfers the power better, less slop in the drive train to let stuff wind up and hurt it self to. I think poly has very few vibes.

However, you have to remember that I used to have solid tranny and engine mounts........

I got replacement motor and transmission mounts from Advance Auto. 'Bout $20 for all 3 but it didn't come with the torque rod bushings so I reused the old ones.

ok i went to auto zone and advance auto right after i posted the topic looking for a tranny mount for my jeep. nieve YES sorry!!!! Neither place could get a tranny mount for a tj.

So what do i do just go in there and look for poly mounts? just any old mount. What im going to do in the morning is pull the skid down (thank god i have the RE with the drop out center) and pull the tranny mount off and take it with me see if i can make something work. sound right or anyone else have any suggestions?

damn i sound like a friggin newbie.... oh while were at it.... will 22" rims look good with 36's i want something shinny hehehehehe HAHAHAH OOHHH i just kill me. NOT!!! i saw a volvo tonight with huge rims no wonder they go so slow they weight a ton.

thanks guys i apretiate it... it sucks when something is broken and i cant see it without droppin the friggin skid.

Broke every rubber mount I put under my T-18. Now have a poly mount, no more problem.
Rubber wouldn't last more than a few runs.
If you can feel vibrations bad enough to worry about, find out the cause. Don't mask it with a wimpy rubber mount that will only break again due to the vibration it sees!

Poly is the only real viable option, IMO. The stock rubber mounts are pretty crappy, and tear frequently. You'll just be back where you started from. I have poly m/m's and t/m and they do increase vibration a little...but hell, it's a Jeep, and I'm more interested in performance than a little extra engine vibration in the cab. If you still have the stock m/m's, a poly t/m would not be that noticable. Prothane makes it.

Dust Puppy---I put 4 years in at AutoZone in Grand Junction, CO.....they have a tranny mount book behind the counter that has pictures of all the mounts. Most dumb ass red shirts don't seem to know that. They depend on the computers to much. Just see what happens when the power goes out in the store. They panic. They don't know how to use books like Napa and Carquest.

Hey, DP I went into that same Autozone and asked about a 1" body lift. The guy went into one of the isles and brought back a cheep set of lift shackles. After I explained the diffrence he told me "Yea I don't do much with 4X4 cars." ........
I had to leave with out explaining the diffrence between a Jeep and a car..

I can attest to the T-18 tranny mount saga. I blew the rubber one out again last run. I have ordered a poly mount for the next trial.
