what problem will result if i drive my truck
in 4x4 with two diffrent gears 488 front stock in the rear if i lock the hubs and put it in 4x4 details

strain on the drivelines, transer case, axxles, diffs, etc. I wouldnt do it. Keep the hubs unlocked till you regear the rear and you'll be cool. I dont think its a good idea to put it in 4 though, it will bind up stuff and put alot of strain on the drivetrain. fawkin newbie

Major binding would be the result. It would be like driving with 28" tires on the front and 35" tires in the rear <IMG SRC="smilies/skull.gif" border="0">.

If the offset between gears was a little more close then it would probably work okay. But I will assume that the rear is 4.10. So no, don't do it, too much binding. The sharks are out in a feeding frenzy on this stupid idea....hmmm doing some quick math... you have about 4:1 in the back and about 5:1 in the front. That means after the first 4 turns of the drive shaft the front tires will be 1/5 of a revolution behind the rear. So, after 20 turns of the drive shafts the front tires will be one entire revolution behind the rear, my bet is that with some good traction, you'll never make it this far. So at 1500 rpm/3.8(first gear)/60seconds= 6.5 drive shaft rev/second...thats about 2-3 seconds before something grenades.... <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0">

NO NO NO dont belive these guys! With the 4.88s up front you will have better traction due to the lower gear and it will even make a good rock crawler that way since it will grab the ground better and with the 4.10 in back that will help your gas milage when on the freeway!!! AAAAhahahahahahahahahahahahahah! I couldn't resist the frenzy! hahahahahahha
