I just replaced the transfercase output shaft bearing and the 2 associated seals. I was excited because i have always been leaking gear oil and i hoped this would fix it. Well it's not leaking around the flange anymore! It's coming through the center of the flange where the output shaft flange bolt is. It's leaking between the outputshaft flange and the rear driveshaft flange.

I did notice a small groove in the output shaft flange from the output shaft seal but that is not where it is leaking from.

Any ideas how to fix this leak? <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0">

take the nut and flange off......wipe down the nut and washer and as far inside and around the output shaft as you can get......get blue RTV and put a bit around the output shaft, put it all over hte washer, and hte back in the nut.......torque it all down, fill with oil about 2 hours later and your good to go......just my.02

P.S. make sure you re-punch the but into the groove when you get it all said and done.....keeps it from backing out
