I have a 94 BJ D60 and want to run tie rod on top of knuckle.

If the knuckles are reamed from the top, is there enough meat in the knuckle to install a GM 1T TRE? Or will it end up in a hourglass shape with insufficient contact?
The knuckle hole measures 0.590 top .700 bottom, 1.050 thick.
Else it is a sleeve/insert.

Anyone used inserts for the pitman arm? The ruff stuff sleeve needs a 1" hole. That doesn't leave much metal left, under 0.25". Yes you weld in the insert and get back to about what it was.
The pitman arm taper measures 6.3* and GM TRE are 7.1*. Gap would be 0.007" on the fat end. I would think the average idiot with a reamer in a hand drill would get this much error.

Another option is to run a ford TRE on upper drag link so the taper is compatible with pitman arm. The one I have is 1"-18 threads. Is there a decent option for a Ford inner drag link end in 7/8 thread? Plan to use 1.5 0.250 DOM.
