I really don't worry too much with all that chipping. All the crap will fall to the bottom. Not like I will be running the Indy 500 with it or something.....
just get the loose crap out of the diff with a buncha brake cleaner and call it good. when i did my first diff i was worried and spent a lot of time. it helps to just spin it around and make sure the teeth are clean. give it a good splash. id be more worried about how the welds are on the spider gears and if itll blow.
