Hi, I have a 1985 Toyota 4x4 Truck. I just noticed if I have the parking brake on and i rock the truck back and forth, the back brakes make a noise. Its like a urrg, urrg noise. And also when my parking brake is pulled all the way my trucks tires still move. My parking brake is weak. I wanted to know if this noise is from the parking brake being weak and the brakes not griping enough. The noise is only when i pull the parking brake, if I have the parking brake off the truck will rock but it doesnt have the noise. PLease Give me some Info!!!!!!!!

are your drum brakes worn out?

i took my rear breaks apart and found that the "automatic" adjuster had been disconnected so i hooked it back up and adjusted to where the pads held the truck again. holds just fine on a steep hill out of gear!

The rear brakes in the solid axle trucks really are pretty lousy. My parking brake would never stay in adjustment. Your best move is to find an '86+ rear axle and swap this in. The axle is wider, the drums are a lot larger, and the internals for the brakes are much better.

Or you could get an AllPro t-case disk e-brake.

I just did both. The AllPro e-brake works very well.

BTW, if you want any rear brake parts for your existing axle, I give you the stuff I have for the cost of postage. I also have my entire '84 rear axle complete I'm trying to get rid of.
