I have two questions about the parking brake on my 71 55. First where can i get longer cables? The only one specter has is to short. I have v8 so its a bit farther back. also has any one seen much on disc parking brakes? Man-a-fre has one in catalog but they want $$$$$$$$ for it and i would rather make one if possible. from what it shows its a mechanically activated disc and a little rotor. that would give the true full disc brake conversion....

I believe most motorcycle shops can make a custom cable for you. Why spend the money on a disk brake lock? If you take the time to put new pads in the stock parking brake (assuming you are using stock T-case) and adjust everything properly, it works great! For one thing, you lock the whole drive train, not just the back wheels. I can peg my 55 to a pretty steep slope with the parking brake.

i live in Oz, but go into the test section, and look under disc brake transfer case setups!

i posted something in there the other day!

its the 5th disc for my landcruiser!
it is a copy of a kit spectre did a while ago! ummm, you could copy it or there is an engineer here who makes tehm and eh would do it for you for $300 Oz plus postage, so you might be looking at $150 US cause our dollar is worth like 50c! anyway, its only to suit teh split case, as fitted to 81-84 40 series, 60 series and 75 series, but im sure the pics will give you good ideas! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
