did a search didnt find much.

anyone have any pics of home made ext RA's?

could i weld some tub to the end basically take off the front circle plate that the bushing goes up against and put some dom tubing over the post where the bolt threads on and weld it?

are the arms cast steel? how is welding going to be with that?

what about welding to the cast steel? or is it iron? the way i was thinking about doing would only have a circle weld welding the tube to the radius arm.

Heres one that Tim at Bronco Alley made for me, he bent them to give me some more clearance for turning radius, there only extended 2" because I moved my front end forward 2".
The arms are cut about 2" from the end where the threaded end starts and then 1" to 2" in from each cut they are ground down to fit inside the DOM tubing with some force and then welded together.

I couldn't wrist the arms with the bend it them so when I went to a full width axle I didn't need the bends for additional turning clearance my radius arms were further away from the tires.
So I made new ones and wristed one.

i have some 12'' extensions that i had made at a Mach. shop that i will sell. they are made out of 1020 with a brinell hardness of 222. i had them sonic NDT tested, Mag, and eddy current. they have the same normal end Mach. on one end and the other end is drilled and tapped so your radius arm will thread into it all the way to the round portion were the "I" beam starts. all you would need to do is move your frame monts back.

oh and i should add that they are made out of solid round bar stock, not tubing

i have well over $200 in these exstentions but will sell them cheap. i no longer have a need for them i have sense installed a 5 link.

I use cro-mo solid tbe and just machined a hole at one end to fit over the stock RA mount and machined the other end to match the stock RA end so mounting would be the same. Hope that makes sense. Basically whats pictured above with 12" extensions. I also took some 3/16 plate and welded to the top and side where the extensions weld on to the RA to give it more support.

I hear mixed results, I am curious since there are pics here with both extended and wristed, do those of you that have done both really get more flex with it both extended and wristed than with it just wristed?

I am deffinetely wristing mine, but have been tossing the idea of extending them too around, however I don't know if the payoff would be worth the time and money to extend it.

wow.. everyone likes our stuff :D hope it works.

These are actually my dads and we are a bit skeptical on how they are going to work.

we had identical arms on both sides but it wouldnt flex at all. Now one like the one in the picture is on one side of the axle and the other side just has a single bar, not a triangulated one. its seems to work great but i am skeptical on strength issues.

3 heims per arm shown, the brackets at the axle end were bought from a local race shop and welded onto the axle ~4" closer to the center of the axle. Track bar has yet to be made. Probably some time next week. All heims are 3/4" as i couldnt talk my dad into going any larger. We'll see if they hold up.
