Hey all. Trying to get the axle spacer out by pulling it through. What is the best way to do that?

When the Detroit locker was installed, they had to modify the bearing cap by grinding a small section out for the side bolt. However, because of that, I’m unable to spin the diff so I can push the axle spacer out. See image.

The end goal is to have the pinion bearings replaced without pulling apart the diff, bearing caps, bearings, spacers, etc...

After reading the Detroit Locker manual, it said that bolt holds the Axle spacer in place. That’s also why the bearing cap is ground out... maybe I’m mistaken?

C-clips francis, c-clips.

Again. What axle?

You are NOT replacing pinion bearings WITHOUT disassembling that axle. Think of it like trying to eat only the bottom layer of a cake.

Push the pin back it.

Verify or mark if it isnt already the bearing cap side and orientation.

Remove bearing cap

Remove pin

Remove spacer
