I ran a search on this topic and found some stuff, but the threads I read didn't quite answer my question completely. I was wondering if you can re-use the inner pinion bearing after pulling it off (changing gears)? I know the bearing has to be pressed off and I was under the impression that this would put too much stress on the bearing to put it back in. Also is it recommended to replace the outer pinion bearing as well? Any opinions? Thanks

I've been temped to reuse what looked like a perfectly good bearing, but have ALWAYS used a new one. For what that thing goes through, I figure it's a small price to pay.

I reused mine I think.....but I was the original user of my front end in the 19 years of its life...the bearings had no miles on them

I have always prefered peace of mind and just replace them on customers rigs, mine, reuse if there are no nicks/scaring, and one you get the preload on the pinion, you will feel if there is a bearing issue, should be smooth on rotaion by the hand, and rough/jerkyness, replace it...
