I'm looking for a guy who imports the Mog 401 axles. I used to have a link to them. Large red portal axle with much larger portals than say a 404. I think it was extremeaxle.com or something like that.

Anyone one on the east run 404's or 401's with like 42's and a v8? I'm a little concerned with how the boxes hold up, especially the 404's.

The 404 and 42 combo will :nuke: everytime on the East coast. Works ok on the West coast, though.

Check with Ron at ORGS (team purple) last time I checked he was importing Mog axles.

Really? I know a guy who has had one live behind a 350 for several years. Actually it is the whole Mog drivetrain sans engine. And this guy works his hard. He's in the mid west and rides trails on both coasts.

Maybe I should have clarified... will 404 ends with 42's and a v8 hold up to heavy throttle bouncing over the slime covered rocks at Tellico? I don't want to change to something that I have to worry about breaking. I don't personally know anyone running them locally, thinking that maybe a sign.

I've seen Charlie Melchner beat the hell out of 404's in competition. Full on getting it bouncing a 4000 pound rig and his rears just took the abuse. Build them tough, put them together right and you shouldn't have a problem.

It is a badass rig tho, and he can drive the hell out of it.

Dont know if it was the portal. Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn't, it would lock the whole wheel up causing it to drag.

Same thing happened to Charlie in the EROCC finals on #9. Passenger side front kept popping and binding up, acted like it was in the portal box.

From everything I have read it is the people using front axles in the rear that are having breakage.....what little there has been out there.

I think you will be fine with 42's and a Portal. Lots of folks using 44's and portals on the board.
