If I add a power steering cooler, does it matter if the fittings are on the bottom or the top?

Someone told me if the fittings are on the bottom you will never get the air out of the system.
Is this an old wifes tale or what.

Plate style cooler need to come in from the side with the inlet on the bottom, and outlet at the top. Tube and fin type and go in any direction since the fluid will be pushed in the direction of the tube.

Huh? I mounted mine sideways, no problems with air. I did have problems getting the pump to move that much fluid, put in a new pump and it still wouldnt push the extra volume of fluid, removed the cooler and all was well, but no air in my system, it bled out like normal. Even turning 44 inch tsl's on a heavy ass truck I have never burned the fluid, never needed the cooler, it was overkill, I would never mount one again unless I went with the ram assist which needs more fluid volume due to the piston stroke.
