OK, so i have an AMC in my buggy. Runs so badass but the steering keeps chucking belts. Does anyone know what all brackets may fit the motor? Heard the la series dodge motors are the same block so....i dunno. Its a 360 block with a "P" pump PSC on it.
AMC 360s have nothing in common with Mopar 360s. The brackets won't fit.
There were variations of pulleys and water pumps year to year on AMC V8's, so it is possible you have a mismatch causing a misalignment between the crank, water pump and /or power steering pulley.
If your power steering pump pulley is the pressed on type, you can sometimes correct a slight misalignment by moving the pulley. Stock they are pressed flush with the end of the pump shaft. The earlier 70's setups used a bolt on pulley with a large nut and a keyway, no adjustment of position is possible.
There is an aftermarket serpentine belt setup available for AMC V8s, but it's not cheap. Factory was only V belts.
