saw this sitting in a farmers field near my house. A fairly molested 78 Golden eagle 304 3 speed d20 with a broken output shaft "non running" for 300 bucks. Drug it home and got it going in about 10 minutes

IT was full of 1980's goodies dual shocks, dual steering stabilizers, lots of rust in the body but someone had already repaired and coated the frame

I yanked the tub off and tore my 2wd T18 i stole from another farmer down the road and bolted a novak adapter up

my other buddy pulled his YJ tub off his junk so i got it for free, had a friend swing by and we started adding some patch panels

Went for a shakedown run with VA4wdA and the Blue Ribbon Coalition, It was a trail cleanup day but got to cycle the suspension, all that worked great and i had zero issues with any of the new stuff.

Running and driving on the otherhand was made substantially more difficult after I buried it in a mud hole, had to dry the distributor out and get the mud off the butterflys in the throttle body.
Since i have about 30 watercrossings at my next event and its already calling for rain for the next week i decided to get started on some sort of a snorkel/intake since the open air cleaner was packed with mud

Saw your rig in a friend's pics from the cleanup. What event are you attending next week?

Wheelin for Hope at Oakridge VA (i know its big dogs opener too) but

all the entrance fees and raffle money goes to the American Cancer society, my mom was supposed to go with me last year but she was too sick and passed away last october.
so i was making a point to be there this year with my dad

took the FI-tech off and cleaned all the sand out of it....

then put together an intake... hoping this inline spectre filter will flow enough air

once i get it sealed to the firewall and get my distributor sealed ill pressurewash under the hood

No justification needed--good event and given your circumstances, very fitting. Sorry to hear about your Mom.

Yikes, bet you were thrilled!
had a great weekend, lost an alternator after the first day but ran down to a parts store and got that swapped, little bit of body damage in our group and killed the electrical system on my buddies JK lol but everyone drove off the trails.

My dad had a blast and asked when we are going again so that was cool

so my little 65 amp chevy alternator didnt like idling for hrs with the fan and fuel pump and radios going, voltage would slowly drop throughout the day so i went and picked up a powermaster 170 amp

does anyone have any experience with these guys?

So the wife wanted to go out to arizona to see her friend so i timed it with overland expo west.

I acquired a 2019 compass Trailhawk for the week and it lived in 4low and locked for most of our adventure... I know its not hardcore but some built JK's were giving me the craziest looks up at Cinders OHV area and again down in Sedona

There were some pretty well built rigs at the show, really im just gearing up for Moab next spring and this trip convinced the wife to come along with me and my buddies.
