OK - I figured that I would start a thread on here with my progress, I am currently about 50% done I guess...

The plan:
---Build a replacement Jeep for the wife--- (she had a locked YJ on 35's before)
- GM 5.3 from the yard
- SM465
- Stak 2 speed 5.44:1
- Ford HP 60 front, shaved and narrowed, detroit, 5:13's, 35 spline, chromo
- Ford 9 rear, shaved, detroit, 5:13's, 35 spline chromo
- 40" tires
- leafsprung, nice and simple
- flat bellypan
- full hydro
- YJ tub, CJ front clip
- CJ style dash
- CJ tailgate
- room for dogs, icecheast, and future kiddo
- needs to be able to make it around town to run errends but it also needs to be able to hit any trail in the states

it's all coming together now...

This is where I am at now - just got my steering stuff in yesterday. I am working on a traction bar also. I should get all of that done this weekend. - Although I am going to the Rodeo on Friday and Sat. night...

are you going to change the location of your rear shackle mount, the shackle looks almost completely horizontal which wouldn't allow the leaf to compress as the leaf gets longer as it compresses

I have some longer shackles that I plan on using. If you look at the angle between the holes - it's about a normal shackle angle. The shackles are cut in that fashion to clear the bumper and allow more swing when the leafs compress
