Rebuild is complete, linkage looks good but I don't have a manifold choke. This is a 4MC variant that uses a thermostatic choke. I don't believe my edlbrock manifold has a spot for the choke to mount and I don't have one anyway...anyone know how to retrofit one of theses??? Change linkage??

Anyway, looks like I'll need some sort of choke mechanism as it directly controls the fast idle cam, choke and secondary lock out.

Any help would be a appreciated. Thanks.

I know there are a few edelbrock intakes that have a area for thermo choke spring, are you sure yours dont?

THere should be a part that bolts to the area in question that allows you to use the bimetal choke on the Edelbrock manifolds.

Both my Edelbrock SP2P and Performer manifolds had the provision for the thermal choke. You just basically need a flat horizontal surface to mount the thermal coil to that takes heat directly from the manifold. By that I mean that you shouldn't build anything like a shelf that could have air flow underneath it, as that would defeat the purpose.

Beyond that, it is just a matter of bending the linkage a few times between cold starts and hot idles until you get the appropriate range of motion.

How about converting to a manual choke?

You'll likely only need the choke for a cold start. You would not have the rapid cooling and heating that you would in an area with 4 seasons. And, subsequent need for the choke to fine-tune your mixture.

BTW, I recall that some of the older bimetal chokes work off a heat tube to the exhaust mainfold.
