So i just noticed in the calrocks pics a buggy with TECATE all over the side of it.

Is this a non- issue in the Drunk driving crowd?
Does it matter who sponsors what?
Are there any "no-go" sponsors?

Reason I'm asking is i have ties with a rather large liquor distrib. and it has been brought up in passing conversation before that a sponsor from a major liquor company wouldnt be so far fetched for me. But we've always passed it off as kind of "yeah, right"

You dont see many liquor company sponsoring any kind of motorsports vehicles and i was wondering why?

I don't see anything wrong with it. Alchohol and tobacco companies have been sponsoring racers of all types for decades.

Nascar has Budwieser, Coors, Smirnoff
F1 has the same

Tecate also sponsors a baja race. Tecate Challenge I think it's called.

one of the most successful liquor sposorships ever was John Player...their formula 1 / indy? car was one of the top in the 70's and got them a TON of publicity.
There are no rules against it and any organisation that barred you from running their logos would be making a mistake that will cost everyone in the future. Yes, booze is not great for you and does cause many bad situations, BUT IT IS LEGAL IN THE US!
If you can get the liquor sponsor...go for it! But, be smart in how much you ask for...meaning, don't start small when talking $...

Hell, I'd take sponsorship from Tampax if the check is big enough.
I heard it took 13 million per year for Phizer to get Viagra on the side of Mark Martain's car. Miller beer is giving away a coupon for a free six pack to every adult at the Daytona 500 if Rusty Wallace wins. If it's wrong to to put the name of a beer co. on the side of a car, is it then wrong to put a cell phne co. logo on the car? People might use a phone while drivng, which is a leading cause of accidents these day ya' know.

If you're referring to the John Player Special Formula 1 team, JPS is a cigarette brand in the UK ;) But I agree with you...

 Great image!
I'm picturing a white, fluffy Toyota, emblazoned with big pink script Tampax Super, all with a thick white rope dragging from the rear bumper... can you imagine the sight of a spotter tugging hard on that to squeeze the rig through a tight spot? :D

Can the Panty-liner Pathfinder promotional rig be far behind?

Randii (who'd also take just about any sponsor)

 :D Actually, the spotter would be pulling to get it OUT of the tight spot, if function follows form??!! :p

Nope the greenies would require it to be the cardboard applicator and besides there is no tools allowed other than the spotter strap, wench cable (large deduction), and natural rocks.;) :D

You can get JPS here in Canada too.

I loved (still do ) the JPS Norton of the late 70's.

Not adding much to the thread!

But wait - that would be my idea of kickass sponsorship....

Guiness and JPS....maybe the Captain too (Morgan, that is):D

players, who currently sponsors the nthe cart effort of john forscythe(spl.?) is a ciggerette I belive. anhesier-busch(spl.?) sponsors everything from top fuel dragsters to unlimited hydroplane boats. my opinion, if you can get the money go for it, a little liquor sponsorship never hurt anyone.

Beer and Liqour sponsorship doesn't bother me. Selling single cans of beer in special dispensers next to the cash registers at Circle K does!
