the only differance is the 3/4 ton is an 8 lug and the calipers would have to grinded to fit 15 inch wheels other than that you get a dana44 1/2 ton and convert it to a 3/4 ton all you need is the disc and backplate calipers are the same as 1/2 ton

That's only true for 1978 and up d44's and 10-bolts. Earlier than that, and the spindles were different. Go to a parts store and look up bearing part numbers for both. You will see. I know, I tried. The 78+ use 2" ID inner bearings. The pre-78 use smaller ones. The outer bearings are the same on both, though. I had a friend at a drivetrain store look up dimesions to see if he could find a conversion bearing that would fit the 76 spindle and the 3/4 ton rotors and there isn't one.
Hey Brian if I was you I would JUMP on that 60 that you found.. it would be a killer conbo with the rear that you already have. You won't even have to "upgrade" again.
