Opening the Canyon looks to be a 4x4Wire exclusive... we'll probably have pics up this weekend.

AFAIK, the only way to run it for the nrear future will be to join up with Rich's CalROCs rock-racing endeavor.... but you all wanted some regional rockcrawling competition, anyway... right?

It is within 90 minutes of Sacramento, and Rich is planning a well-considered media campaign.... 4x4Wire is involved because one of our staffers is related to the folks that manage the property, and I introduced the idea of using this property to Rich.

In other words, wait just a *bit* and we'll have pictures of vehicles in the canyon. I have plenty of pics of the canyon right now...

Early in the season, the canyon is pretty wet. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> How big a snorkle do you need? <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">

Challenging rocky obstacles exist down in the flatlands....

But the real meat of the challenges lie up the canyon a bit, where water cranks out early in the season. Several ten-foot waterfalls should be sufficiently challenging to put just about everyone on the winch string. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

The normal watershed issues do not apply in this canyon, since it is not the primary watercourse, and is on privately-managed property.

Pictures of Rich's efforts to open the canyon with vehicles will be out soon.

Ok everyone with the balls steel......Bob Roggy is designing the course, the competion will be the weekend before thanksgiving (due to the many other activities) this will be a competion on virgin rock (except for preruns to set the course). we are still debating if it will be as two day or one day event...how many competors...etc......I tell you this will be an experience rather than just a competion, meaning we have in the planning more than whats been done in the past..ie. ARCA, UROC or WARNS. After I talk to Web daddy this weekend you all will be informed as to the details, or at least the details that we can make known.
