just curious if anybodys into the rc crawling.our local park has started rc comps and it looks pretty fun.i was thinking about buying one but i know nothing about them.id like to buy something that is out of the box ready to crawl, with every thing i need included.any ideas?
im starting to see what you mean, the prices on some of this custom built shit is retarded.but for about 300 bucks this axial set up looks like its worth it
just for playing in the yard
Yup I got over 1500 in to my ax-10 but that's only because around here it's not that big so some one has to r&d things lol. And that some one is me :S oh well it destroys everyone else around here! Not cheap, tons of fun, and can slowly upgrade! You'll enjoy I promise.
You can spend some bank on these I know when I started doing RC comps I kind of felt like I was playing with toys you quickly realize how much it adds up when you get into front digs beefed up axles and better motors and electroincs. RCP crawlers sponsor our f-toy so I get some way cool stuff. check out thier website there are entry level kits to get started and step up as you can
I have an AX-10 and it is a lot of fun. You will end up wanting to upgrade some parts, especially on the rtr version.
Of course it is not the same as wheeling an actual rig, but most people can't take their full size wheeler out on a wednesday after work either like you can a RC.
Some of the RC cars have alot of time and money invested in the R&D. They are not the same size, but the same principles apply. I looked over alot of their design for IRS and IFS during the design stage of my own full scale build. An RC is a great way to prototype and test things out. Think about one of these in KOH as a full size.
wasn't there a thread a while back with side-by-side pics of RC rigs next to the full scale crawlers they were modeled after?? i vaguely remember seeing a mini-model of Dibble's old rig
my 6 year old daughter wants one BAD but I just dont know where to even start with one lol. I guess it is time to start searching for parts or kits, but they do look like alot of fun
mine is txt based. i think i had more fun designing and building than actually playing with it. i plan to put a little rock course in my back yard. at least i keep saying i'll do it.
For those of you that are going to be at the Donner We Rock event be sure to stop by, there is a big National RC Comp running in conjunction with the 1:1 rigs. I fly into Reno on that friday.
Jake spotted the f-toy and ran the rc comp at donner last year not sure if he will try that again or not. We will have our rc cars at the event for sure
I plan on getting one for the me and the kids soon. Just the damn fuel prices getting to the 1:1 comps is keeping it out of the family budget.
